Eternum Review

Holy woah it’s been awhile for me hasn’t it been? Unfortunately I do have a life and playing adult games and writing reviews on them doesn’t quite pay the bills (cough whencanIaskaboutaraise cough) BUT NO MATTER I have and will continue to find time writing these depraved pieces so long as I keep finding games like this one. Eternum Review

If you’ve played Once in a Lifetime you should know what to expect with dev Caribdis by now, and if you haven’t GO PLAY IT, NOW! RIGHT NOW! In the middle of work? Doesn’t matter, download it on your work computer. In the middle of applying for unemployment because you got caught playing porn on your work computer? DOESNT MATTER play it instead, money is temporary, porn games are forever. Going through a soul crushing divorce that will leave you penniless all because your wife left you because you lost your job, failed to find a new one, and now spend all your time playing games by Caribdis? FUCK THAT WIFE IF SHE REALLY LOVED YOU SHE’D UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS YOU PLAY ALL GAMES MADE BY CARIBDIS NOW GO PLAY ETERNUM AND Once in a LifeTime.

Eternum is a mixture of Ready Player One and Sword Art Online

Once in a LifeTime is one of the most top tier games I’ve played. It’s the topiest top to ever top on top. And this game is following right in its footsteps. Eternum is only 2 chapters in and my god,  have I been gripped in so many ways already. This game is literally proof of two things that you come to understand as a writer. 1-there is no such thing as an original story, all stories that can be told have been told already. And 2-because all stories have been told it is your job to take existing stories and flip them on their head and tell them in a way only you can, and wow does Caribdis excel at this. Eternum is a mixture of Ready Player One and Sword Art Online (season 1 SAO, we don’t talk about season 2,) and despite this, the game still feels like a brand new and completely fresh story.

You take control of the MC who moves back home, reconnects with people who are totally not his sisters (please for the love of god let the incest stop) and starts playing the hottest new game: Eternum, a depraved VR realm where almost anything goes. With the help of his friends he uncovers dark secrets of the game that could put the lives of himself and everyone he loves in terrible danger.

I laughed more times than I made my sheets sticky

Eternum hits all of the great points Caribdis became known for in his first porn game and reaches new heights with them. His comedic timing is impeccable, I laughed more times than I made my sheets sticky while playing it, which is really saying something. There are so many parts which hit those funny bones just right and genuinely make you belly-laugh. Just as the last game, this is chock full of zany characters that never cease to make you smile and giggle like an 18 YEARS OR OLDER school girl when they’re on screen.

And speaking of the characters, their writing is phenomenal. Each one is already fleshed out and they’re completely unique from each other. They already feel like real people with their  own motivations, quirks, and personalities. The ones you’re meant to hate you really really hate. The ones you’re meant to love and laugh with you love and give eye watering laughter with. And yes the ones you’re meant to “love” you really want to “love.” I’m really worried that I want some of the girls on my screen more than I want the many women in my life. And yes there are many. Okay a few. Okay a couple. Okay it’s one. …

The animations are phenomenal and truly keep you engaged  and ready for more. The music fits in perfectly with each aesthetic in the game, which insanely ranges from regular slice of life, to sci-fi, to mystery, and even horror. The horror section may have been the only time I’ve ever closed my eyes while playing a VN…I swear I didn’t scream while going through this section. I did scream without the S though…haha…immature sex joke…laugh please, this job is all I have.

Everything about this game just works perfectly, and I am truly excited to see what comes next. I am honestly upset that I discovered this game so early in its development because I can not wait to see what more Caribdis has in store for us.
